2007 was a great year in the advancement of Women in Technology (WIT) and moving the organization to the next level. With the addition of an Executive Director and the initiation of new programs, we increased the effectiveness of WIT’s mission: to promote the advancement of women in technology for success in Georgia. I am honored to serve as President in 2008, and I look forward to working with each of you to further advance our mission.

This year, we can look forward to excellent programs and events that build our technology community, including our ten monthly leadership meetings with top-notch speakers. In partnership with Atlanta Woman Magazine, WIT will host Dr. Betty Siegel, Margot King, Ann Cramer, CIO leaders, among others, to educate and share their experiences with us at Maggiano’s in Buckhead. You won’t want to miss these – be sure to register at www.witinc.org!

In addition, WIT continues to be committed to the professional development of women in technology. WIT’s Executive Coaching program continued strong in 2007, and is scheduled to thrive again this year. WIT’s Mentoring Circles Program was initiated in 2007 and brings together various levels of management to broaden and grow through learning from community leaders and mentoring with each other and an assigned mentor. Presenters have included Sandy Hofmann, Helen Berg, Marianne Johnson, Sally Foster, Terry Trout, David Nour, Dick Cook, and many others. For more information, visit www.witinc.org.

And, of course, WIT’s main events,Women of the Year in Technology (WOTY) Awards and WITConnect, will again be highlights of the year. The Awards event offers to the community wonderful exposure to our great female leaders and will be held in September at the Cobb Galleria. WITConnect ’08, WIT’s premier event and fundraiser, funds our philanthropic activities and educational programs and will be held at the new Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 30. Get involved now – sign up to serve as a volunteer, nominate a deserving woman in technology or save your budget to get an appointment with a community leader at WITConnect!

Going into our fifteenth year, WIT has continued to further the mission it has had since the beginning:to promote women in technology in Georgia. It takes the involvement of so many in our community to help WIT be successful in this mission: volunteers, leaders, and companies. On behalf of all of WIT’s Board of Directors, I thank you for your continued cooperation and support. We each can help so much, but just think what we can accomplish by working together.
