WIT was founded as a forum for women in technology to meet and share ideas. In the 90s WIT became known for its great networking and the willingness of its members to promote each other's careers. More than ever before, finding a sounding board to help sort through various stages of one’s career is critical. WIT's Careers In Action program helps women drive results toward their career goals by sharing best practices from some of Atlanta’s most powerful executive women and providing a network of support to help stay motivated and navigate successfully through career challenges. The Program Careers In Action groups are formed around common career tracks such as Leadership Foundations, Reinventing Your Career, Reentering The Workforce, and more. By organizing groups this way, the conversations are relevant to all participants. Groups are led by female technology executives and are facilitated by a group of WIT Volunteers. Participants are paired with a small group Advisor to challenge them; encourage them; and motivate them to take action to further their careers. Executive women from around Atlanta present their best practices on a specific topic to help encourage, motivate and drive participants toward action. Who It's For Designed by and for women in technology, WIT Careers In Action is designed to bring together individual contributors and first-line managers who want to drive results toward their career goals. Careers In Action helps women define their goals; stimulates their thinking around achieving these goals; and then holds them accountable for taking action. Through frank, confidential, candid discussions the participants gain skills and confidence to move their careers forward. How It Works Careers In Action meets monthly, over the course of three to six months, depending on the track. At the initial session, participants meet in person to set their goals and start building trusting relationships with their peers and Advisor. During the remaining sessions, speakers drawn from a pool of recognized female leaders in technology present various ideas on a specific topic to stimulate dialog and encourage learning. Throughout the program, participants work with their small groups and Advisors to challenge themselves and take action toward meeting their goals. Each Careers In Action group is limited to 10 – 20 participants based on a selective application process.
